Over 300 species of trees have been planted on the Wake Forest campus, representing a highly diverse and unique collection of tree specimens. In the fall of 2008, a group of students in Biology 702: Introduction to GIS and Remote Sensing began to make information on these trees available to the public by means of a virtual arboretum. All trees on Hearn Plaza and Manchester Plaza were mapped using a high-precision GPS. In all, 17 species in 11 families were identified and photographed. By following the link to the index below you will find information and photographs of each species, as well as a map showing the location of each species on the Hearn and Manchester Plazas of Wake Forest University.
